I've got some good news and some bad news.
YOU might be the problem.
The good news?
You're also the solution.
Chapter 5 of The Naked Salon is all about Leading Your Team to Success.
And if you're constantly frustrated with your team, I want you to consider something:
What if changing THEM isn't the answer?
What if the first person we need to work on is YOU?
That's actually incredibly good news.
Because changing the whole bloody world is a very big job.
Working on yourself?
Much more achievable.
In this episode, I'm talking about people pleasing, boundaries, communication, delegation and something many salon, spa and clinic owners find incredibly difficult:
Letting people fail.
Because if somebody is always late and you keep reminding them not to be late...
You're interfering.
If somebody forgets something and you're always there to remind them...
You're interfering.
If somebody isn't performing and you keep patching everything together because you don't want an uncomfortable conversation...
You're interfering.
Sometimes leadership means stepping back long enough to see what's really there.
And being clear about what you want, what you'll accept and what you won't.
Being clear isn't being mean.
Being clear is being fair. Chapter 5 Leading Your Team To …
I also talk about why your team will never care about your business in exactly the same way you do.
And that's okay.
You chose to own the business.
They didn't.
The mistake is expecting them to think like you — and then getting frustrated when they don't.
Your job is to LEAD them.
And leadership is a skill.
You can learn it.
One of my favourite stories in this chapter is about a salon owner who avoided one of his team members because he found her difficult.
He stopped holding team meetings because he didn't want to deal with her.
The irony?
She was his most profitable team member.
The person he liked most was actually costing him money.
Once he started leading instead of avoiding, they introduced short, sharp, useful team meetings. Eventually the team valued them so much that when he went away, one of the team members ran the meeting without him.
THAT is the goal.
A strong culture that continues whether you're there or not. Chapter 5 Leading Your Team To …
And that leads beautifully into what I'm working on with owners right now.
I'm opening 5 spots this month in my 25-Hour Salon Rule 90-Day Program.
It's for owners of salons, spas and clinics with a team of four or more who want to become less necessary in the day-to-day running of their business.
Not by abandoning their team.
By becoming a better leader.
If you're even vaguely interested, take a look and see if we're a good fit.

Your family needs you.
Your salon, spa or clinic shouldn't.
